A HISTORY of CHANNELLED ENERGY HEALING
It is the intention here
to present a simple and brief account of at least some events in
the history of the development of some of the many channelled
energy systems. I make no apology for placing particular
emphasis on paths leading to
the development of the relatively new ‘SourceSTAR’ as it is
currently the most recent, and there is little information yet
available on the web. It is hoped
that this synopsis may help some people arrive at a better understanding
of the relationship and development of healing energies as we
know them today. Be aware that due to the vagaries of human
nature and personal interpretation of events, people live in
their own reality and a number of diverse understandings of
history can evolve. This brief history was collated from
information gathered from several sources and is, to the best of
the knowledge and understanding available, an accurate account
of events.
Although all channelled
energy healing comes from the same Universal life force or
Source, you are
probably aware that there are a number of systems that exist. It
is widely believed we are all capable of
channelling healing energy based
purely on positive intention, at least to some degree.
Unfortunately our Western society and culture does not generally
recognise and nurture our development of this ability. The
frequency and volume of vibrational energy channelled can be
increased through practice, or by training and attunement or
initiation in a named healing system. The main differences in
the systems are whether or not an attunement or initiation
process is used, how the energy is channelled and presented, the
frequency of the energy channelled and in the visualisation of
any symbols associated with a particular system. It is not the
intention to suggest that any particular system is better than
any other as they are different vibrations and presentations of
the same Source. Therefore a higher frequency of vibration
should not be interpreted as superior to a lower vibration -
just different, and people will find affinity with the vibration
that suits their personal needs. All systems are valid and
provide much needed healing for mankind and the planet.
Spiritual Healing
(usually associated with the Spiritualist church or movement)
involves no attunement process or symbols and the vibrational
rate is raised through years of practice. The attunement process
to which they refer is actually the process of asking and
channelling the energy for a healing session. The energy is
channelled from Source, through the crown to earth, and then up
to flow down the arms to the hands of the Practitioner. The
hands may make light physical contact with the client, or be
held in the etheric layer close to the body (within 5cms/2
inches) as the energy travels down to the core.
Traditionally, other
healing systems include multiple levels of proficiency, symbols,
and personal growth work to enable expansions in consciousness
and to raise personal vibration level. Reiki, Karuna Reiki®
Seichim, Tera-MaiTM, Sekhem®, SourceSTAR and most associated and
derivative healing systems have an attunement or initiation
process or ritual that enables the Practitioner to achieve a
fairly consistent connection at the appropriate frequency for
each level within the system. Regular use of these energies will
help strengthen this connection further. In most channelled
healing systems the Intention to connect with Universal Source
and direct this energy to a recipient for healing is done in a
similar fashion, although Spiritual Healing and SourceSTAR
involve a more complex route including earth energy.
Reiki - Although it
is thought likely to have had its roots in Tibet or Atlantis,
Reiki as we know it today owes much to Dr Mikaomi Usui who
re-discovered it in Japan in the late 19th century through
pursuit of study, fasting, meditation and an Instantaneous
initiation from Spirit. He spent several years developing and
giving form to the system often referred to as Usui Reiki and
then passing this knowledge on to others through teaching and
attunement. Whatever its roots, Dr Usui gave an energy system to
the world that has spread and developed thus enabling mass
consciousness to rise and support energy of increasingly higher
frequency.
Seichim
was re-discovered by Patrick Zeigler through a spiritual
experience and spontaneous attunement while spending a night in
the King’s chamber in the great pyramid of Giza in 1979 or 1980.
Patrick was at this time based in The Yemen with the Peace Corps
and studied with the Sufis in Egypt and the Sudan before
returning to the USA via Nepal in 1984. He lived in the
Himalayas for 2 years prior to receiving initiations into Reiki
up to level 3A, stopping short of teaching Master level. The new
energy was found to have a higher vibration frequency than Reiki
and in 1984 was advised by an Indian spiritual being called
Marat of the name
Setim, the name of
the highest order of Priests in Egypt, and
who also gave
guidance on its history and the attunement of others. With this
knowledge, and what he heard as ‘Se ch im,’ Patrick initiated
Tom Seaman and David Quigley (originator of Alchemical
Hypnotherapy) into what is better known today as Seichim.
Interest in Seichim rose with the increasing numbers of those
attuned to the energy.
In
1989, Phoenix Summerfield was attuned to Seichim and went on to work with
Tom Seaman on further development of the system giving Seichim
the form and structure we know today. Phoenix commenced teaching
the developed system in 1990.
It is from the system of
Seichim that a number of offshoots and systems were derived and
developed, together with new symbols.
The history of channelled
energy may indicate that both Tera-Mai and Karuna
forms of Reiki flowed from the system of Seichim.
Tera-MaiTM was
developed by Kathleen Milner in 1991 following her meeting
Buddha in a consciousness raising experience who gave her the
symbols that it’s claimed were missing from the original three
attunements of Usui Reiki. Tera-MaiTM, often referred to as a
higher vibration of Reiki, was trademarked in 1993.
Karuna Reiki® was
developed by American William Lee Rand after he was shown the
Tera-Mai system symbols in 1992 and was then intuited to use
them in a different form of attunement process. He added more
symbols, combined toning and work with crystals, and brought in
the concept of Ascended Masters and Celestial beings. William
went on to lay out a set of standards and trademarked Karuna
Reiki®. A number of Masters took exception to this and went on
to develop their own systems.
It was in
1992 that Helen Belot in Australia learned Reiki and Seichim. When trained and attuned by Margot to Reiki levels 1
& 2 prior to Seichim, Helen recognised some of the symbols as
looking similar to those she had received as a child, but drawn
differently. Helen found that her way somehow changed the
vibration pattern and increased the power of the energy.
Sekhem® -
Following her Seichim attunement from Margot Slater, Helen Belot
continued to follow her intuition and experimented with drawing
and channelling the energy in her own way. Helen met and
received the Master Seichim attunement from Phoenix Summerfield
in 1992, but felt when she channelled the energy in her own
intuited way that she received a different energy to that of
Reiki or Seichim and in order to differentiate called this
energy Sekhem®.
In 1994 when
Phoenix realised Seichim had changed, she again met with Helen
and re-attuned her to Seichim giving her a separate attunement
for each level through to Masters level. They spent eight
days in Australia working together and exploring energy healing.
Sekhem® initially
incorporated Seichim and Reiki, but further experiences and
discussions between Phoenix and Helen on Seichim and Sekhem®
seemed to expand on differences in these energies and they could
not agree about the use of some symbols. By the end of 1994,
Helen had gone on to develop a teaching structure for Sekhem®
using only the Sekhem way to draw and visualise symbols.
As Sekhem® further
developed, Helen Belot decided that Sekhem® should be taught as
a totally separate system and developed a
significant number of powerful symbols that were unique to the Helen Belot
lineage of Sekhem®.
In 1996 and 1997 Helen
Belot felt there were difficulties arising from confusion
between systems that led her to filing for trademark
registration of both the name and logo in 1998. This Trade
marking was only partially successful, with variance in
presentation and format of the copyright mark(s) dependent on
country. For instance, in the USA and Hong Kong the Sekhem logo
together with the word Sekhem beneath and TM were trademarked
while trade marking in the UK and EU was initially granted for
the Sekhem® logo alone with an ® situated to the right.
SKHM - Patrick
Zeigler developed SKHM, a healing system that has less reliance
on symbols and in 1998 Patrick dropped the
set Reiki style attunement and commenced teaching SKHM in its
present form. The SKHM process involves students making their own connection and
achieving expansions of consciousness through a series of
activations arising from meditations, rather than any set
attunement ceremony. It is thought by Patrick that this energy
is the core energy of the original Seichim system rediscovered
by him years earlier.
SSR - In 1997,
Diane Shewmaker stated she received a natural spiritual
initiation into Sekhem during a meditation at a weekend workshop
led by Patrick Zeigler. This system includes part of the energy
system, but not the full system as developed in the Helen Belot
Sekhem® lineage. Diane Shewmaker created the SSR (Sekhem,
Seichim, and Reiki) system as a result of bringing together and
combining these systems. Diane Shewmaker followed this up by
publishing a book called 'All Love.'
In November 2005, Helen
Belot received conformation that her little known second
personal submission to trademark the name Sekhem® had been
successful in the UK and EU and that the word ‘Sekhem’ should be
immediately followed by ®. The right to use either logo or
name Sekhem® then became only permissible by those who became
members of The Helen Belot Sekhem® Association.
In September
2007, Helen Belot resigned from the Helen Belot Sekhem®
Association taking her name and her right to the Sekhem®
Copyrights and Trademarks with her. Although this had varying
consequences throughout the world
depending on what had been trademarked in each country. The UK
and EU were hardest hit due to the 2005 trademarking of
the freestanding name Sekhem.
Following Helen’s letter
informing members that neither the name nor logo could be used
in the UK and EU, a group of 11 UK Sekhem Masters, many of whom
were approved and endorsed by Helen as Teachers in May 2007, met
as a group in Edinburgh on the 11th November 2007 to
discuss the matter and to decide how to proceed. Apologies were
received also, from 11 Masters. In numerology the number 11 is a
Master number associated with intensifying the desire to serve
humanity and bring about peace and reconciliation and the number
has great spiritual portent.
SourceSTAR
- At the meeting Gordon Soutar reported having received symbols
incorporating a twelve-pointed golden star, while others could
identify with the importance of stars at this time. Sheila
Caldwell proffered the
acronym Sekhem
Transformed
And
Reborn
for STAR. These things, coupled with the origin of all energy,
led quickly to the unanimous agreement that the name for this
evolving energy would be ‘SourceSTAR.’ The unanimous
feeling that recent events were guided by Spirit led to an
instant feeling of certainty that the path was now clear for the
development of the healing modality
now known as SourceSTAR.
It was agreed that we
should continue to work towards setting up an Association of
Practitioners that should have no geographical boundaries, and
would be supportive and inclusive. It would set standards
offering the possibility of satisfying the expected new
Government regulatory legislation for all Complementary and
Alternative Therapies. Membership of the Association would not
be compulsory for trained therapists in order for them to use
SourceSTAR. A steering committee was elected, and tasks
allocated to take the work forward. It was agreed the
Association should have a website.
Under the auspices of the
Steering Group, the training manuals were rewritten and a
Constitution for the formation of The SourceSTAR Association was
drafted. A further meeting was held in June when, after
discussion, agreement was reached to dissolve the Steering Group
in favour of setting up inaugurating the SourceSTAR
Association. The Constitution was adopted unanimously and an
interim working Committee was then elected to look at writing
Articles and Memorandum of Association for a future Company
limited by guarantee, and to formulate rules, and procedures
regarding membership, certification, forms, etc.
Prior to the evolution of SourceSTAR, channelled healing has
historically had difficulties arising primarily from ego. It is
therefore hoped that important lessons of the past be learned and that
we go forward in the spirit of co-operation and harmony.
It may seem unbelievable
at this time of upheaval, as people struggle to adapt to the new
energies, that the signs in the heavens indicate a time of great
change and renewal in this new Age of Aquarius. This is an age
for dualities to mix, differences to resolve, and for renewal
and unification. It is no surprise therefore that SourceSTAR
should emerge at this time to assist and guide us at this
exciting time.
We can look forward to the
unconditional healing and love that is Source playing a
significant part in the healing and development of mankind, the
Earth and the Universe with all healing modalities playing their
part in a spirit where difference is embraced.
